最近,有同学问了这样一道题“Describe a story someone told you and you remember ”。

Although the bedtime stories which my grandad used to tell me were the first things that came to mind, I’ve actually decided to talk about a scary story which our teacher told us in primary school.
I can’t recall the exact details but it was set in the dim and distant past and had something to do with a monster which terrorized a village and killed everyone living there.

This monster apparently emerged from a deep lake every night and gobbled up the inhabitants one by one. This was the monsters revenge: she was punishing the locals for having killed her children. The reason this story is indelibly printed in my memory is that it almost scared me to death. Before starting, the teacher closed all the blinds so that the classroom was in complete darkness. He imitated the monsters roar and the villagers’ screams.
By the time he’d finished, most of us were sobbing. We were only eight! I went home traumatized and couldn’t sleep without the light on for weeks. Several parents complained and the teacher had to apologize. I must say, he should have known better.
As I’ve already mentioned, I’m slightly hazy about the exact plot but I would imagine I would relish hearing the story now. It sounds right up my street. I would probably find it absolutely hilarious.
